The rental process

When does the rental start?

The rental starts at the time specified in the rental request if the following three criteria are met:

  1. The renter has sent a rental request to the landlord

  2. The item owner has accepted the rental request in the "chats" section 

  3. The renter has paid the rent in the "messages" section before the rental begins.

 

* If the item owner does not accept the rental request before the time specified in the rental request, the rental will be automatically canceled free of charge.

* Both parties will be notified in the "chats" section after the payment has been completed.

When is the rent paid?

If the item owner has accepted the rent request, the rent will be paid as soon as the renter has paid the rent in the "messages" section. Please note that if the rent is not paid by the start of the rental, the rental will be canceled automatically and you will need to send a new rental request. Both parties will be notified in the "chats" section after the payment has been completed. It will take about 2-5 business days to process the payment.

What if the other party does not respond to the rental request?

If the other party does not accept the rental request, it will be automatically canceled before the proposed start time. You can also cancel your rental request before doing so if nothing is heard from the other party. It is important that you keep push-notifications turned on so that all Lainappi messages arrive.
 

Can I cancel the rental?

Renter:
When a chat opens, you can choose to pay or cancel the rental. When you press "Cancel", the rental will be canceled immediately without charge. When you press "Pay X €", cancellation is no longer possible.

 

Item owner:

When the chat opens, you can choose to accept "Confirm" or cancel the "Cancel" rental. Please note that if you confirm the rental, cancellation is no longer possible. Pressing "Cancel" will cancel the rental free of charge.
 

Can an approved and paid rental request be canceled?
If the rental is accepted and paid cancellation and refund are not possible. Both parties can agree on a refund outside the Lainappi service. If this is the case, Lainappi will not refund the service fee for the rental transaction.
 

How is the rental price changed?

If you have agreed a different rental price with the other party than stated in the rental offer:

  1. Cancel your rental request in the chat and agree on a new price

  2. Item owner: Edits and updates the new price in the rental offer

  3. Renter: Sends a reservation request to the item owner

 

* Please note that when the rental offer is updated, it will first be processed by Lainappi before it is published. Lainappi tries to process all rental offers as quickly as possible.

What do I do if the item(s) are damaged or stolen?

If anything happens to the rented items during the rental period, you may file a claim form and rental protection will take care of the matter.

When and how do I return the rented item(s)?
The time and place must be agreed between both parties. It is important to stick to what has been agreed, as the item owner is entitled to receive payment for the agreed rental duration.

How do I end the rent afterwards?

The rental transaction is closed in the "chats" section. The rental transaction ends automatically when the rental period is over and when both parties have marked the item(s) as returned. Once the item(s) have been marked as returned, both parties are asked to leave a review.

When will I receive a rental earnings for my account?

After the rent has been paid, it will take about 2-5 business days to process the payments.
